Subsidised aids, equipment and home modifications as specified in the Victorian A&EP guidelines summary list (refer to Subsidy Level menu item for further information).
Victorian A&EP does not provide:
Aids or equipment specifically for use at work or in educational settings.
Funding for aids and equipment that are standard household or personal items (for example, washing machines, beds, clothing etc) and generally regarded as community norm for the person or their family to purchase.
Funding for items associated with medical treatment or surgical interventions.
Funding for the provision of short-term aids and equipment.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Program the client must:
have a permanent or long term disability/or are frail aged; and are living independently in the community
require aids & equipment or home modifications from the aids availability list on a permanent or long-term basis.
and
are a permanent Victorian resident
or they are on a Permanent Protection Visa – resolution of status (RoS) (subclass 851)
or they are an asylum seeker
Please note: the client may not be eligible if:
they live in a commonwealth funded residential aged care facility
they receive aids and equipment through other government funded programs, such as Workcover, Transport Accident Commission (TAC) or the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)
they are able to claim the cost through a private health insurance provider
they are an inpatient of a public or private hospital or
they have been discharged from a public hospital within the past 30 days
Retrospective Payments:
It is important to note that retrospective payments will NOT be provided through the SWEP.
